face lift services from our experienced team
We are very excited to be the first and only clinic in the UK to use the QuickLift technique – an advanced mini face lift developed in America. It is the ideal choice if you are troubled by sagging cheeks, sagging jowls or a sagging neck.
This advanced mini face lift technique has proved extremely popular in America and with our patients in the UK because it can give immediate, natural-looking results with
- fewer complications than a full face lift
- minimal scarring, swelling and bruising
- the convenience of a day case procedure
- rapid recovery and return to your normal routine
- no need for a general anaesthetic
- excellent value
What is an advanced mini face lift?
Typically a mini face lift is carried out by repositioning the skin of the face, tightening sagging jowls and a sagging neck. The advanced mini face lift takes this a stage further by tightening and lifting the tissues underneath the skin. This approach gives more dramatic and longer lasting results. In fact, the procedure is much more akin to a traditional full face lift than a mini face lift. You may wish to take a look at the original description of the QuickLift technique.
Who is suitable for an advanced mini face lift?
You may benefit from an advanced mini face lift if you
- feel that you look tired and that everything in your face has ‘gone South’
- have saggy jowls or sagging cheeks
- have a sagging jawline or a sagging neck
In general, the advanced mini face lift is suitable for men and women in the age range 40 – 65-plus. It is ideally suited to people in the older age range who may have developed significant loose and sagging skin in the lower face. Everybody benefits from the fact that the surgery can be carried out under local anaesthetic and sedation. If you have a busy life and need minimal interruption to your schedule, you will appreciate the fact that recovery usually only takes a week or two.
What surgical technique do you use?
We are the first and only clinic in the UK to use the QuickLift technique. This is a modification of the mini face lift (S lift, macs lift) that incorporates special stitches placed in the tissues beneath the skin to give a more effective lift to the lower face. In some cases, we combine this with liposuction underneath the chin to improve the appearance of a double chin. The surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic with sedation which has a better safety and recovery profile than general anaesthesia.
The incision is made in the hairline so that it is hidden and extends down, finishing behind the ear. The skin of the face is freed and stitches placed in the tissues underneath the skin to lift the sagging tissue of the lower face and neck. Any loose skin is excised and the skin redraped and stitched to result in a more clearly defined, fresher looking neck and jawline. Small plastic drainage tubes are typically left in the neck, which are removed the next day. The procedure takes about two hours in total.
Are there any risks or side effects of an advanced mini face lift?
All surgery carries the risk of scarring, infection and bleeding. However, the risks are much lower with an advanced mini face lift than with a full surgical face lift. The risk of damage to the facial nerve is also much less with an advanced mini face lift.
How long is the recovery period?
Although the advanced mini face lift can be carried out as a day case procedure, we now recommend an overnight stay in the Spire Hospital for the first night, especially if you do not live locally. This makes things much less stressful for you. When you get home you need to take things easy for a few days and will need to take regular painkillers for the first 48 – 72 hours. Sleeping and resting with your head elevated will help reduce any swelling. You may resume wearing any make up after 3 days. You will need to have some of the stitches removed after five days and the remainder a week later – by this time you should be well on the road to recovery. The final results of your surgery will be apparent after a month or so.
Can I see some before and after photos?
In accordance with the current guidelines of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the Data Protection Act, we do not show ‘before and after’ photos on our site. However, there is an extensive gallery of before and after photos and more information on the US QuickLift site. If you would like to know what our former patients think about their treatment, please visit our forum. When you come for an initial consultation, we can usually arrange for you to meet and chat with someone who has recently had an advanced mini face lift.
